The time after the JEE Mains 2021 is of calculations, assumptions and hope. The National Testing Agency would be conducting JEE Mains 2021 in multiple sessions. This can lead to complaints from the candidates. Moreover, a bright student, who has toile day in and day out to crack JEE Mains, may go down in merit list due to the extremely difficult questionnaire. The normalization is expected to preclude such a scenario. It will help the authority to assess the aspirants with respect to the difficulty level of the JEE Mains 2021 questions.

How To Calculate the JEE Mains Rank Based on the Percentile

The NTA would prepare the rank list according to the percentile obtained by each candidate. The normally pursued procedure for finalizing the rank list is enumerated below.

• Top in percentile tops the rank list. The rank list is in descending order.
• The percentile in Maths would be the deciding factor in case of a tie in the overall percentile.
• In the rarest of the rare circumstances, both total percentile and percentile in Maths may be the same for two students. The percentile of Physics would be considered in that case. If that is also the same, the percentile of Chemistry would turn into a decisive factor.
• If two or more students have the same percentile in total as well as all the subjects, the age of the student would decide the rank of each, i.e. the older student gets the preference.
• There had been occasions, wherein two students of the same age scored the same percentile in all aspects. The students were awarded the same rank in that scenario.
